A paediatrician specialises in children's health, from birth through adolescence. They manage common illnesses, monitor growth and development, and answer the everyday questions: sleep, feeding, behaviour.
Teleconsultation suits common complaints and childcare questions well: the paediatrician observes the child on video, assesses general behaviour and guides the parents. It does not replace a physical examination when the chest, an eardrum or dehydration must be assessed. If any of the signs above are present, go straight to paediatric emergency care.
Under 3 months, any fever warrants immediate in-person assessment. Beyond that, if the child is drinking, responsive and playing at times, a teleconsultation is a good first step.
Yes for many common treatments, with weight-based dosing. The doctor will ask for the child's recent weight and refer for a physical examination if needed.
This information is general and does not replace a medical consultation. In an emergency, contact the emergency services.
