General practitioner online

6 practitioners available

A general practitioner is the first point of contact for the vast majority of health problems. They treat common complaints, follow chronic conditions, order the tests you need and refer you to a specialist when the situation calls for it. They also issue certificates and renew long-term prescriptions.

What works remotely

Most general practice consultations work well over video: history taking, symptom assessment, reading results, adjusting treatment and prescribing. Anything requiring a physical examination — listening to the chest, palpating, taking blood pressure, looking at a throat or an ear — needs an in-office visit, and the doctor will tell you so plainly during the call. In a life-threatening emergency, call the emergency services rather than booking.

Frequently asked questions

Can a GP prescribe during a teleconsultation?

Yes. At the end of the consultation the doctor can issue a prescription, sent to you through the platform. Some restricted medicines may still require a physical examination first.

How much does a general practice consultation cost?

Each doctor sets their own fee, shown on their profile before you book. Nothing is added at payment.

This information is general and does not replace a medical consultation. In an emergency, contact the emergency services.
