A dermatologist treats the skin, hair and nails. Many dermatological complaints suit teleconsultation particularly well because they are visible: clear photographs often let the doctor reach a diagnosis and propose treatment without a trip to the clinic.
Prepare clear photographs taken in daylight, both close up and from further away — they are the core of the consultation. The dermatologist can assess most common lesions and prescribe treatment. Some situations do require an in-office visit: dermoscopy of a suspicious mole, a biopsy, or any procedure.
Two or three photos in natural light: an overview of the area, a sharp close-up, and if possible one taken a few days earlier to show how it has changed. Avoid filters and flash.
An initial assessment is possible, but any genuinely suspicious lesion must be examined in person with a dermoscope. The doctor will refer you if needed.
